Rollyo

Roll your own search at RollyoSometime last month, I was given an opportunity to try out the beta test of the newly created roll your own search engine site, “Rollyo”.
The owner has requested not to shout/blog/publicize about it so I barred myself from blogging here.
Now that Rollyo’s been officially released, I’m able to talk about it here.

Rollyo allows you to create personal search engines using only the sources you trust. Just add the sites into a form and boom, bingo, whamo, you’ve created a custom search engine (we call them Searchrolls).

Rollyo is integrated with yahoo search and from my experience, it produces very fast and accurate results.

Rollyo puts the power of Yahoo! Search in your hands, by giving you the tools to create your own personal search engines – with no programming required. All you have to do is pick the sites you want to search, and we’ll create a custom search engine for you.

You can create unlimited search rolls for yourself according to the subject you want to group as. Say for example, I have created search roll “Web Development Resources”, where I add all the related web development site links and once it’s been search, the results will come only from the links I’ve added and nothing else.

More effective and specific search result can be achieved as you limit your search rolls with fewer links. The maximum of 25 links can be added to each roll. It was said that the fewer the links in each roll, the better the search result will be.

One of the features I like about there is, the pop up box listing all the links as well as a small image and info of the roller, once you click on search rolls. You can also save other users’ search rolls as you’ll find many interesting rolls for your own use. There are some tools like firefox plugin and bookmarking to go with and some more will come later on.

Well now that the news is out, you can pay a visit to Rollyo and try it for yourself.

I hate the rain

I hate the rain;
I hate wet, cold, chilling weather.
It’s too much flowing, too annoying;
Today, yesterday, everyday since last week.

Yah I hate the rain;
It flooded the rivers, channels and lower ground.
It drained one life today;
Poor soul stuck in the middle of flooded creek,
I wonder why he was there in the first place though.

I hate the rain;
It delays people with their schedules,
I’m late for work;
Today, yesterday, everyday since it rains.
I was late for work, may be before that too;
Still…I hate the rain.

  • Mayvelous on WordPress.com

    My lucky day I guess. I got an invite from the amazing “wordpress.com” and now my new blog, “Musing Along Extraordinary Exaggerations”, is up.

    It has new functionalities in admin(WYSIWYG textbox, image uploading, on-fly category creations etc) and some part are restricted, eg. can’t update/use custom template, no user subscriptions, no plugin.
    The whole site set up is limited to the functionalities of the template you’ve chosen. I wish they allow the custom template function later on.
    There is only 5 templates to choose from and vanilla mist is one of them. Since I’m using vanilla mist here, I chose different template to go with the new blog.

    Now I got too many blogs and I can’t keep up with those.
    I’m still thinking what to write/even not sure what title to give to that new blog haha. :P
    What do people want to read from my blog … or rather they don’t…hmmmm :-?
    Any ideas or suggestions?

  • What a shame

    One of my favorite web gurus, “Jeffery Veen“, landed on Fiji ground and I didn’t know of that? What a shame. :(

    As the plane descended, I looked out at the black sky, and then saw a few tiny lights below. We landed, taxied to a gate, and I watched as a not-very-exotic looking ground crew fix the problem. We all lined up, used the newly functional restrooms, and off we flew back into the night.

    Wow! Fiji!

    I guess his flight landed in Nadi International Airport, which is one of the only two airports in Fiji. It’s 4 hrs drive from my place. I would have go meet him if he stayed longer.
    It’s quite a funny reason to pay a visit like that haha. :D Still he can now say he has been to Fiji. :P

  • I never use Opera browser before and I’m thinking of trying it our since it’s now free :p

    Download Opera

    Opera has removed the banners, found within our browser, and the licensing fee.

    I’m satisfy with my firefox, although my current version 1.0.6 gives some bugs a few time… I forgot why I removed last version 1.0.5 which is more stable that this.
    I got IE6, Avant Browser and Mozilla FireFox to test my sites, now I got one more browser, “Opera”.
    People says it’s great browser…well I’ll have to see for myself. :)

  • This is very well organized reference for XHTML Character Entities that you should keep note and make use of.

    The first line shows how the entity will be displayed on your webpage. The
    second line contains the entity reference, in the form &entity_name; (i.e.
    an ampersand, the entity name, and then a semi colon). This is the code that
    you should place in your webpage. The third line contains the numerical reference
    for the same character. Finally the fourth line contains the unicode representation
    of the entity.

  • September

    September comes as with a rush.
    It’s only half the month and lots of things going on with me.
    First of all i had my birthday which comes and goes so fast.
    Then we start our major project which we’ve been preparing and training for.
    Following that comes lots of headaches, banging and swearing around office.
    Deadlines after deadlines and now I’m getting scare with Fridays which are my
    suppose to be favorite day of the week.
    My bloglines now packs with unread posts, over 3200+, to scan through and I
    couldn’t have time to do so.
    My brain hurts and don’t want to do anything when I get home.
    Then comes a happy day, my brand new laptop (IBM ThinkPad), bosses decided that
    I should get a laptop so that I could take my work home. The goods and the bads
    of receiving my very own new laptop, I’m not so sure yet.
    I wasn’t even started with my happy thoughts, there follows sad, sad days.
    My mom’s hospitalized. Been a week now and I could only visit her once out of
    the last 9 days.
    I couldn’t do much for her or for my family cos’ I’ve been occupied with my
    own stuffs.
    I’m so sad to see my mom in hospital, getting too sick and news of an operation
    to do.
    I’m so sad to see my dad in hospital everyday and nights looking after my mom,
    getting tired and sleepless.
    I’m so sad that I don’t know how to handle the house work without my parents.
    I’m so sad that I’m having a hard time cooking and cleaning and waking up early.
    I’m so sad that I couldn’t visit my mom in hospital, one reason is cos’ I’m
    tied up with stuffs at home, another is probably I don’t like hospital and sick
    people. I’m terrible at comforting others. :(

    Anyway, anyhow, I’m still alive and I’ll be back!!
