In WSS, there is no default header or whatsoever, it only has “Top Menu Bar” with those main navigations like “Settings”, “Document Libraries”, etc.
My understanding of the “Header” is the image that go on top of the “Top Menu Bar” which span through out the site.
Header image is the first thing you set to customise your WSS sites. There are numbers of CSS files for you to play with for the look and feel of the whole site.
For this header part can be manipulated from OWS.css file, which sits at
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033\STYLES
Place your header image here: c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
For WSS adding the header image tips, you must read this first two articles. #1 A Quick Way to Add/Change the SharePoint Header Area Graphic and #2 Adventures in CSS: Putting a banner image above the menubar in WSS
My version include abit of adjustment from the second article. The main difference between #2 and mine is that, #2 made use of second table’s CSS ie. .ms-bannerframe to apply the header image whereas in mine, I’ve use the first table’s CSS – .ms-main as you seen in the following code.
The image is added in .ms-main as followed. Once you add the image, the top menu bar still sit on top. To move the top bar down, you have to add margin-top space to .ms-bannerframe.
.ms-main{
background-image: url(“/_layouts/images/ats_intranet_header.jpg”);
height: 170px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
}.ms-bannerframe, .ms-GRHeaderBackground, .ms-storMeFree {
margin-top: 170px;
background-image: url(“/_layouts/images/topgrad.gif”);
background-color: #002d96;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}
The method in #2 is mainly for default theme sites but once you apply it with different themes, the top-menu bar appear out of control. It is due to the image height set in .ms-bannerframe which is applied to second table and it acts as a background image for top-menu bar as well.
margin-top: 170px; this leave the space for the header image. The height of your header image should go there, ie. the one you use in .ms-main class. In my case it’s 170px.
.ms-bannerframe, .ms-grheaderbackground, .ms-stormefree {
background-image: url(sitelogo.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
border-bottom: 0px solid;
height: 72px;
}
Article 2 style effect: Theme1, Theme2, Default Theme

My Style effect: Theme1, Theme2, Default Theme

The disadvantage of my method is that, you need a fix image width. You cannot apply background color to it cos’ it will cover the whole page background as well. Also it doesnt work for individual webpart pages ie. a separate webpart .aspx pages that you created in document library. I’m yet to figure that out.
What is the advantage? hehe well it serves my purpose cos’ none of #1 and #2 work with my requirement.
This is just an extra note added to the first two articles, so that whoever with similar to my case can make use of it.
Thanks Ian for the articles.

I felt bad, I didn’t participated in last week poem tagging. It’s not because I didn’t write a poem, as a matter of fact I wrote one. It’s cos’ my poem was so stupid that I felt too lame/shame to post it. My very first reviewers say it all (bro, mom).
Anyway I’ll keep that poem to myself and as a replacement, I came across this one. Kinda nice…hey it’s not poem but very much like a poem.
You can download the music here: “What Is It You Wanted?”
What was it you wanted
I ain’t keepin’ score
Are you the same person
That was here before?
Is it something important?
Maybe not.
What was it you wanted?
Tell me again I forgot.Whatever you wanted
What could it be
Did somebody tell you
That you could get it from me,
Is it something that comes natural
Is it easy to say,
Why do you want it,
Who are you anyway?Is the scenery changing,
Am I getting it wrong,
Is the whole thing going backwards,
Are they playing our song?
Where were you when it started
Do you want it for free
What was it you wanted
Are you talking to me?Via: Desperately Wandering
I’ll try again this week.

Hey check this out. This is very good offer for small/medium organizations. Google is offering (rather beta testing) for google application integration with your own domain. It’s kinda like subdomain system from google. You can offer customised google services like email, chat, calander with your domain.
Google Apps for your domain lets you offer our communication and collaboration tools to your entire organization — customizable with your branding, color scheme and content through the administrative control panel, and with no hardware or software to install or maintain.
Well I don’t think my domain can apply for that cos’ mine is personal and definitely not an organization type. But I think InternetFiji would try to test/make use of this for some of their customers. I’m sure inet will get an account if they apply for it. Well…just a thought, since I can’t check out for myself, Ian you mind setup an account for inet so I can play with it?
Anyways here are some facts.
Quick Facts
Cost: Organizations accepted by Google during the Google Apps for Your Domain beta period are eligible for free service for their approved beta users even beyond the end of the beta period, as described in the Terms of Service.Languages:
Administrative control panel – Currently fully supported in English only.
Gmail, Talk, Calendar and Page Creator – varies by product.Fully supported browsers
- Microsoft IE 5.5+
- Mozilla Firefox 0.8+
- Safari 1.2.1+
- Netscape 7.1+
- JavaScript and cookies must be enabled on all browsers.
Step 1: Sign your organization up

Step 2: Log in to the control panel and create your user list

Step 3: Select which services you want

Step 4: Activate your services

Step 5: Show your users where to find their new communication and collaboration tools

Sweet isn’t it? K try it out.

Most of Fijian art and crafts use excessive amount of brown, gray, black, white and abit of orange colors.
Their designs are mainly in square based shapes with basic trigonometry patterns such as circles, triangles and polygons.
Most of their materials are made of flatten wood barks(Tapa/Masi), special type of dry leaves (Voi Voi) and some paint that I don’t know of. I’m not the right person to explain about Fijian art and crafts as I lack the very knowledge. Anyway I got these nice Fijian crafts from a mail and thought of share with you so that you can see how Fijian designs looks like.
If you wanna order some of them for souvenirs, I accept checks or credit card orders only. ![]()
Let me advertise our very own Fiji Shop here. You can buy some nice fijian handicrafts from there. We (our company) kinda maintain the site (suppose to be), but not much updates I guess.
And…I’m not sure these are on Fiji Shop yet.

I hate raining days and dull weather. The whole day, it’s been raining, cold, wet and just sucks. The worse thing is to wake up in the raining morning for work while we’re still half asleep.
Well this is not about how I hate raining day, but it’s about how I love to eat “Yakhine Mont-Te” during cold weather so the weather still counts. So this evening my mom made “Yakhine Mont-Te” and I have two bowls full as soon as I got back from work. There is nothing like the taste of hot-chili-pepper soup to drink in a cold, bad weather like today.
Back in Burma, “Yakhine Mont-Te” is most popular in winter days. You got to eat with lots of pepper and chili and while it’s very hot. If you’re Burmese I bet you know what Yakhine Mont-Te is. But for the sake of my non-Burmese friends, let me do a bit of explaining.
Yakhine : a tribe/group out of hundreds of tribes in Myanmar.
Mont-Te : it has different meanings depending on how u use it. Some cases it means “salad”, in this case it mean mix soup.
So “Yakhine-Mont-Te” means Yakhine soup…or whatever it means. You got the idea. “Yakhine Mont-Te” is a food soup (obviously!
). It’s a specialty of Yakhine people. Well Burmese(Burman) people can make that very well too.
It’s very easy to make and takes only a few minutes if you have all the ingredients. The main ingredients here are some good fish and a good piece of “Nga Pi” (Burmese Chocolate/Fish Paste).
In Burma we use “Ngar Khu”, “Ngar Gyin” (Fish Types) for this. I think my mom use “Wah Lu” fish today, but it’s better with those colored fishes, they’re softer and sweeter. Then you need a good “Yakhine Nga Pi” and lots of grinded dry prawns.
All those gonna make it sweet but it’s not support to be sweet. It’s support to be hot. For that you need lots of black peppers and white pepper afterward. Well the idea is you mix all up in water and let it boil. Put some salt too ofcos. I’m not quite sure whether the fish needs to be cooked first or can use raw one…(will check with mom and update soon).
So that’s done the soup part. But you can’t drink the soup alone. You need vermicelli(Mont-Fat) to mix with. You have to boil vermicelli separately and drain the water out. Put little oil to it so that it’s good to handle.
When the soup ready, put soup and vermicelli in a bowl and done.
Ah…not quite.
To make it better, you need three more things.
That’s it! You have a perfect “Yakhine Mont-Te”.
I take some shots of it to share with you but I forgot to put coriander in there. Yummy!
If you want proper recipe, go ask my mom.

There is this thing call “Design is…” wallpapers going on around the blogosphere. I’m just following up a few and was inspired by some of their catchy phrases, so tryin to add a few of my own.
Lets’ see, Design is…
Design Is The Typeface Of The Web.
Design Is The Intercourse Between The “_ers”.
(Designer + customer, Creator + Consumer, ya da, ya dar etc.)Design Is The Practical Abstract Of The Imagination.
Design Is The Developer’s Nightmare.
There you go, my very own “Design is…”.
Now all I need is some cool wallpaper to write on.
Since my case applies to the last phrase, I’ll just satisfy with the phrases and ditch the wallpaper part.

You can download/check out this excellent collection of “Design is…” wallpapers on flickr “Designer Wallpaper” pool.
Or if you like add your own “Design is…” wallpapers and phrases.
