Military Censors Fijitimes

Whoa! Now, Fiji’s becoming more like some country I know of. (wink*) Shall I say copy cat (whisper*) again? LOL

PM is in house arrest and Military taking over the government as well as public/media freedom of speech. Ouch, that’s just so mean.

Fiji Times shuts under censorship threat

The Fiji Times Limited has suspended publication after the Fiji military ordered the paper not to publish any “propaganda” against the new political leadership.

Yianni and Kakaivalu argued that a free press meant any and all opinions should be published in a balanced way. The Army said it would not tolerate the newspaper publishing any views that opposed those of the Army. Officers said the Army would instead close the newspaper.

Mr Yianni then ordered the newspaper closed himself. Yianni last night said the military’s demands breached the Constitution of Fiji, which specifically protects freedom of speech.

Yo Mr. Sheehy, if they don’t allow to post on Fijitimes, you can always put it up on strangepants. Most welcome on mayvelous too. haha

Well, one thing I can say is, although PM is under house arrest, international media and the public can reach him. He can communicate with outside world quite easily. Not like some house arrest in some country I know of. So I guess, it’s still not that bad. (trying to be optimistic)

I don’t know anything about politics and how this Fiji coup started, but from the look of it, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is too ugly to be in the “good guy” position. I guess Mr Qarase is much better looking to act as a good guy. LOL You bet, I’ll go for the good look to judge since I have no idea what/why they on cat-fight. One is throwing mean threats all over the places and another is crying for help. Mean while, I don’t know what the big-fat-old guy in the big house is doing. I guess he’s confusing himself over which side to take. Oh well he’s too old to keep awake and amuse himself while those people on cat-fight.
Oh the PM position just been filled. My friend didn’t get it, too bad.

…former Fiji Medical Association president Ratu Jona Senilagakali as the interim prime minister.
Military dismisses Fiji government

I’m learning how to spell “Democracy”, cos’ I kinda forgot that word these days.

D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y…..D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y…..D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y.

Work in Progress

Work in progress sites are somewhat interesting. I’ve seen a few in the past like my friend’s, Sarnil.com, site where he publishes his site in the state of progressive development. Now my favorite, “SimpleBits” has stripped the style and full on redesign in progress as well.

I like the very idea of in progress sites for:

  • you got to see how actual work (layout, design, typography, ideas, structures, etc) is done,
  • you got to study how developer/designer plan things through,
  • you got to learn some tips and tricks along the site progress,
  • you got to observe lots of things such as
    - how developer handle each task,
    - how much time/effort he put on the site,
    - how dedicated he is to the site,
  • and many other professional and personality aspect of the developer and the whole site development.

I also was thinking of posting site development in progress posts as I work on a few site but doing things in your head is alot easier than actually putting them down and working on it.

I guess some great minds think alike but when it’s with a role model like simplebits, it spread alot faster. You bet, I’ll be checking those sites regularly on their progress.

I hope Sarnil find some time to work on his site again soon as I heard he is very busy and on business trip. That reminds me, I’m still waiting for Jachin new posts.
Man, these guys are just so busy…or rather lazy?

Situations Vacant

Incase you haven’t heard, there are some vacancy openings here at our beautiful Fiji islands.

Due to recent crisis, a few job opportunities coming up which you might like to take advantage of. The opening positions are as followed :

Application for Fiji Prime Minister and Carbinet Minister Jobs

Military commander Voreqe Bainimarama says people can apply for the job of Prime Minister or Cabinet minister in his interim government.

Application for Publisher at Daily Post

“We’ve had death threats, bomb threats and our publisher is in and out of hiding after being named by Commander Bainimarama on Friday,”

The situation has led the publisher, Mr Alan Hinkling, to recommend asking the Australian High Commission to support applications by staff for asylum.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get hold of the requirement details for the above positions but I bet you got to have some sense of adventure. Already a friend of mine is going for PM position and buying my vote. I think lunch/dinner would be fine. haha
So just try your luck, you never know you might be the next Fiji PM in line. :D
