Music: 7ven Idols + NWP

Hello hello, I forgot to post a music pick yesterday, I was fully occupied (watching movies, eating, sleeping); anyways I’ve selected six old songs this week and am going to introduce one new singer. Incase if you haven’t heard/are wondering what this post is about, you can check an introductory post last week which explains about this.

This week songs are especially dedicated to self-proclaimed “Ko Ko” out there. LOL nah…I just found some of our old songs with “Ko Ko” in it so compiled it together here.

Phwe SoloPhwe – Icy7ven
I’ve introduced her in last week post. This week she sang the following two songs. I think “Tate Ta Kho A Chit” is from “Mu Paing Chit Thu” movie with Kyaw Thu and May Than Nu. Very old one, if I remember it right. It’s a nice movie though I forgot the whole story, I guess the song was sang when Kyaw Thu was away and May Than Nu got sick…or something like that.

The 2nd song is from May Kha Lar’s album sang by Yu Za Na. I think Phwe is better than Yu Za Na in vocal. I don’t like Yu Za Na voice much cos’ it’s kinda like throaty and flat. But she knows how to sing so it’s good for her.

This guy is my OLD school friend. He’s a shy one; young, good looking, smart (doing his Masters), kind, patient (that’s what he said, but I don’t think so), single (all the ladies out there, if you’re interested, just give a buzz lol) and he sings quite well too. There you go man; I’m saying all good things about you so you owe me a good lunch. Bite sar nay tal kwa!

Both songs are nice. I think “Kyin Nar Lo Chit Pa Ya Say” is originally sung by Doe Lone. NWP sang it quite differently in terms of ah…how to say…breaking parts and the tune. But his version is also good and easy listening. I don’t know who sang “Myat Lone Chin Sakar Pyaw Nay Pyi” but it’s a nice one too.

TortoiseSVNOie Turtle turtle, little tortoise, kuchi kuchi kooo…
Oh hello, I’ve just adopted a Tortoise recently. You see, we use to play with this creature called VSS before, but it got wild from time to time and the guys don’t like it much. I don’t like it in the beginning too. I did strangled and fist-fight with it for many times. But the thing is, you only need a bit of patience and time to tame him down. Once I start petting and playing with it, I tend to understand it’s tender part as well as bewilder sides. As you all know, everything has its own pros and cons; our VSS rode a bumpy road and came as an arse but it has soothen out after a while. At least for me, I’m on fair term with him.

TortoiseSVN

Now I found a new pet. It’s really a sweet and gentle thing to start with. It says “Hello” and wags a little tail. Oh just so cute!

SubversionBefore you start with the tortoise, you have to know its family tree; the big fat “Turtles” – Subversion (SVN) evolved from their ancestors called CVS back in ice-age. I’m not interested in CVS but I’m very much interested in SVN and how the little TortoiseSVN communicates to its parents.

So I did a bit of research on Googology and started learning about the whole Tortoise family and their neighborhood. So here we go…

What is SVN?

Subversion is an open source application for revision control, is a replacement for CVS. The goal of the subversion project is to build a version control system that is a compelling replacement for CVS in the open source community.

Subversion’s Features (# Parent Site) (# Wiki)

What operating systems does Subversion run on? (# Portability)

All modern flavors of Unix, Win32, BeOS, OS/2, MacOS X.

Subversion is written in ANSI C and uses APR, the Apache Portable Runtime library, as a portability layer. The Subversion client will run anywhere APR runs, which is most places. The Subversion server (i.e., the repository side) is the same, except that it will not host a Berkeley DB repository on Win9x platforms (Win95/Win98/WinME), because Berkeley DB has shared-memory segment problems on Win9x. FSFS repositories (introduced in version 1.1) do not have this restriction; however, due to a limitation in Win9x’s file-locking support, they also don’t work in Win9x.

To reiterate, the Subversion client can be run on any platform where APR runs. The Subversion server can also be run on any platform where APR runs, but cannot host a repository on Win95/Win98/WinMe.

It’s not necessary to set up Apache to use Subversion on the client sides. If you just want to access a repository then can use subversion client such as TortoiseSVN to integrate with the server. Only when you want to host a networked repository then you have to set up on Apache2 or an “svnserver” server. More info see FAQs (#)

What is TortoiseSVN?

It’s a free open-source client for the Subversion version control system, implemented as Windows shell extension. TortoiseSVN manages files and directories over time. Files are stored in a central repository. Its immediate ancestor was TortoiseCVS which talks to CVS server. (# Doc)

TortoiseSVN’s Features (# Doc)

  • Shell integration
  • Icon overlays
  • Easy access to Subversion commands
  • Directory versioning
  • Atomic commits
  • Versioned metadata
  • Choice of network layers
  • Consistent data handling
  • Efficient branching and tagging
  • Hackability

You can also integrade with Visual Studio.net using this tool called AnkhSVN. It is a Visual Studio .NET addin for the Subversion version control system. It allows you to perform the most common version control operations directly from inside the VS.NET IDE. Not all the functionality provided by SVN is (yet) supported, but the majority of operations that support the daily workflow are implemented. (#)

I think this is all for today’s learning about my new pet. I’ll add more detail on how to feed things and teach your pet A,B,C,D later.

So you want to adopt a Tortoise too? Here are where you can get it from and how to look after it.

I was reading about “Footloose – Adjustable high heels” page forwarded by my bro and thinking what a great idea it is to create one as such. I think, at the moment it’s only in a prototype stage and has not developed into full product yet. It was designed by some design-school graduate last year.(# Via Core77)

Footloose - Adjustable High Heels

The high-heeled shoe is a classic example of a no pain, no gain product. Women wearing them take so much trouble for granted! I decided to challenge this compromise. Would it be possible to make a shoe having all advantages of high heels, just as well as the comfort of flats?

The character of this shoe is in the heel shape. It has separate tips for both positions. While being used in one position, the other heel tip is kept out of sight in and opening in the sole. The shoe is being transformed with a simple and quick movement: one just pulls the heel downwards to release it, after which it can be folded in or out as preferred. The adjustment of the heel position automatically changes the curvature of the sole to fit the altered shape of the foot.

One comment says “it’s all about appearance, not comfort. And sexy legs are worth the sacrifice”. I’m sure you might find girls very silly but that’s what many girls think (not me). I do wear heeled sandals; not those pointed 4′+ heels, but some comfy heels. My heels are flat, only about 1.5′ the most and easy to move about. The heels do enhance your appearance but the most important and the ideal ones are the one you really comfortable wearing. I came across this cool “Virtual Shoe Virtual Shoe Museum via one of the posts and was checking out some funky shoes there. I go for hi-tec shoe section and found these interesting shoes to share with you.

Carbon II: this one looks neat. Looks like a folded paper – origami folds. I have no idea how to wear “Moulded” and go about in that shoe.

This one is called “Solid“. I’m not sure it’s a shoe or toilet bowl? Seem like the latter to me. Only when I saw a girl wearing it then I realized it really is wearable.

Terminus Est and Artus Duplex – These look really cool in terms of color and the material part. But I dare not lean backward. Artus Duplex looks very robotee.

Holly Mother!! For these, I’m lost for word. They are called “Rhonda Zwillinger“.

Have fun shoe shopping.

Developer

Whenever people ask for my job title, I have to stop and think for a while. I am not sure what exactly my job title is. I got a few documents saying different job titles for me. One as Analyst Programmer, another as Web developer and yet another as Software Engineer. Since I prefer working with webforms than winforms, I answer myself as a webdeveloper. What exactly am I? I’m still figuring out. May be I’m just a “Developer” among millions of “Developers”. Developers Developers Developers Developers Developers

  • Me and the IT Team

The IT team I’m working with at the moment is made up of very young and cheerful youths in their mid 20s. They do numerous daily routines such as maintaining websites, reports, support calls, tech job such as fixing printers and whatever people ask them to help with. Most of the time, guys are running around different departments and picking calls. Very few times, you’ll find them sitting at their desk. They do shifts and some stay up really late to finish their work. Though they are busy, you will find them cheerful, always ready to make a joke and are quite loud. Sometimes they would pick on each others, calling names and saying bad things against each other. They are doing it just to amuse themselves during the busy hours and bring up team spirit.

I enjoy working with them, they amuse me most of the times and would never get bored listening to their chatters. Indeed, it’s a good team and working environment (except for closely packed room).

The followings are some of their conversations I picked up today:

    Playing Music
    Scenario
:The guy was playing some instrumental music and others starting complaining at him.

X: May, if this disturbing you, let me know Ok? For the rest of you, you got no choice.

    May: It’s Ok.

The Rest: Wow Vayah, Like that huh!

X: It’s always been like that!

    (*Laugh*)

    ID Card Idea.
    Scenario:
The guys were discussing about their new ID card design.

X: Hey who’s the best graphic designer here? What about the layout?

(One guy (Y) went up to the board and started drawing)

Y: Let’s make it like this.
We can put our logo here.
    Our address at the bottom
    Name here
    Photo here
Then we can add Shimmering stuffs around here.

    X: What’s the shimmering stuffs?

Y: You know, some sparkling things. Something like…in nightclubs. The shining stars and the sparks.

Z: Oh rite, put some neon light balls and some dangling stuffs at the bottom of the card.

Y: Yah then we show it to everyone – this is our ID card. Auu very attractive.

Z: Haha, hey make it as Business card. Everyone wanna have one too.

    (*Laugh*)

    Spy
    Scenario
: The guys were gossiping about something in quite low tone

    May: Alrite guys, I’m off

X: Auu, there she go. You know what, don’t talk around May. She’s a spy from Datec

    May: What? Spy?

Y: Oh yah becareful with your confidential information. May is watching.

May: Haha yah I’m a spy. Professional Spy

May: May, James May – 0007 here.

    (*Laugh*)

I said no more music pick last time rite? Well…I lied, kind of. I was digging up old emails and I came across some of my friends’ songs; then the idea struck me – to do music picks on those. You see, a few of my friends are really musical and they have such good talents that are hidden behind their busy selves. I, as their good friend, have a responsibility to promote those hidden talents and show them off to the public. You never know, one day they’ll thank me or swear at me. hehe.

    Phwe – Icy7ven
PhweFirst of all, I like to introduce this young and talented missy – Phwe. She’s one of my 7ven friends and is a great singer in our group. Her best interests are to sing, chat and diet. She can sing for hours, no need any water or backup. She sings at home, in the loo, in bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, her friends’ places, and any place she can possibly think of singing. At the moment she is concentrating on her study. Due to her parents’ no-singing policy, she has to finish her studies first then follow her dreams. Already she got bookings from her friends to sing at their special occasions.

Missy sang at last year Thingyan festival too, I bet she’s practicing for this year Thingyan as well. You can request her to sing any song you have in mind. Oh yah she can sing quadri-lingual, Myanmar, English, Indian and Nepalese. How cool is that! Last time she sang me “Kush kush ho te hel” song and I think even Ashwaya Rai need to practice more on her vocal to catch up our Missy. hehe

    Glass Alley
This is one of my friend’s high school band, sort of. A group of hsch friends teamed up to do a bit of recording. Sadly, the band is pretty much no more due to their members getting married and entering the chaos of daily life. The members were Meli, Albert, Jonathan, Steve and Forlani (my friend). I think Forlani played bass and did the intro part. Don’t know who the vocalist is but he’s got a potential. Sounded like John Mayer’s voice. There you go, shout me something good. Haha

These two songs are from one of their live shows. The recording is not that good in some parts but I think it’s alright. Both are their own creations so no replication please.

    May – G7ven
may A Ham, Ahamm! Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, lend me your ears. I have a great pleasure to introduce this amazing, talented, beautiful, magnificent, gorgeous, the marvelous (Cut, cut!), ME. A ha` ha`

Hey nothing wrong with promoting yourself alrite. There is this marketing theory – the more you promote yourself, the more people will buy from you. (or something like that) Not that I got anything to sell you, I’m just giving an example…well you know what I mean. I don’t think you need farther intro for me. I don’t sing anywhere and singing is not my specialty. I listen most of the time and am a good listener. Just for fun, I do sing from time to time for my own pleasure. I got a great support from my family, especially bro and sis to shut myself up whenever I try to sing.

In Hlet Kyi Par Oo, ahoot* cough* cough* I was screaming that much but that person never look back. What a fool. I got a sore throat after that. A friend sent me a scratched background music so it came out terrible. All my recordings sux. Well who cares! Do excuse me, if you hear some dog barking at the background. My dog wanted to sing too (or may be complaining my singing), so just to satisfy her, I have to record a few of her woofs* as well.

Alrite, that’s all for this week. Hope you enjoy listening all our songs and our sweet voices (especially mine rite?).hehe

I requested some songs from a few friends of mine so you’ll get to listen more from simple and ordinary talents in weeks ahead. Oh yah, if you’re interested to join us, do send me your songs. It doesn’t have to be your own creation. It can be Karaoke versions too. I just wanna hear your voices. Like my friend said, “any publicity is a good publicity”, so don’t be shy, lend me your voices.

Send me your voices and a bit of your info to mayvelous [at] gmail [dot] com
