Me, Myself and Mayvelous
4 Jun
So I’m one of 53 participants (I hope) of the first round of CSSOff – Jabroni. (too many Ofs)
I always have a problem with world time zones. I had to ask two of my friends from US to check for the time. But their times are also different so they can only tell me the estimates. I did sent the entry a few hours before due time (I hope).
I don’t care whether it went in on-time or not; I’m just satisfied with myself that I’ve done something on my weekend and enjoyed it. It was interesting; took me a couple of hours to think the possible ways to slice and shape it up. I got bored on half way but my bro said I should finish up and done with it, so I did.
I’m not that satisfy with my CSS structure but I think I tried my best. It’s valid xhtml transitional. I don’t know why I didn’t make it xhtml strict…I guess I forgot and used to with my normal xhtml transitional Doctype. I thought of asking a friend to recheck my code but I dismissed that thought cos’ it’s a competition and I should participate it fair and square to find out what I’m capable of. I’ll upload my entry on my site soon.
Here is my entry: CSSOFF – Jabroni (2007-06-01)
Anyways, my weekend was meaningful and busy one…yah not bad. How’s your weekend go? Oh, Do you know any good world time site/application that list different types of time zones and country times? I’m too lazy to google.

Wow, that’s a nice looking entry. Personally, I think its the best one I’ve seen. Good luck in the competition. I only wish I had had enough spare time to finish mine.
Nice … a couple of duplicated element IDs but otherwise quite clean. Just a quick question: did they specify if certain parts had to be links?
No they didn’t say any links, I’m just assume that some part should be linked and make some links there. Yah need to do code cleaning but I was too lazy
Good job on the contest, it looks great! Its interesting to see how different people interpret their design. I’ve got two questions though. How did you do the nav and how much time did you put into it?
I use the image replacement technique for the nav menus. First I thought of using the simple menus css with the fixed background. But there is a possibility that the link text might get longer than the specified background blocks so the best way is to use image replacement.
There is the white border around the hover image and embosed line effect for normal image. I cut them in 4 pieces, 2 lefts, 2 rights. Stack them on top of each other and make them 2 images (left and right) then use that 2 image as background in css code.
Hmm…there are lots of examples out there to do this kind of image replacement menus. CSS Tab Designer examples are the best to check out. It doesn’t take long for me, just slicing the image into proper pixel might take a while. I think takes about 10min.
The most time taken layout for me is those calender dates and the shoes blocks. I tried to use tableless layout with definition list style. But I’m terrible at using those dd, dl, dt things so it took the longest time for me. By the way, I love your merchandise style. Hover effect looks great.
wasup i was just searching the web for my name and found this. pretty funny
