I use the image replacement technique for the nav menus. First I thought of using the simple menus css with the fixed background. But there is a possibility that the link text might get longer than the specified background blocks so the best way is to use image replacement.

There is the white border around the hover image and embosed line effect for normal image. I cut them in 4 pieces, 2 lefts, 2 rights. Stack them on top of each other and make them 2 images (left and right) then use that 2 image as background in css code.

Hmm...there are lots of examples out there to do this kind of image replacement menus. CSS Tab Designer examples are the best to check out. It doesn't take long for me, just slicing the image into proper pixel might take a while. I think takes about 10min.

The most time taken layout for me is those calender dates and the shoes blocks. I tried to use tableless layout with definition list style. But I'm terrible at using those dd, dl, dt things so it took the longest time for me. By the way, I love your merchandise style. Hover effect looks great. :)

Good job on the contest, it looks great! Its interesting to see how different people interpret their design. I've got two questions though. How did you do the nav and how much time did you put into it?

No they didn't say any links, I'm just assume that some part should be linked and make some links there. Yah need to do code cleaning but I was too lazy :D

Nice ... a couple of duplicated element IDs but otherwise quite clean. Just a quick question: did they specify if certain parts had to be links?

Wow, that's a nice looking entry. Personally, I think its the best one I've seen. Good luck in the competition. I only wish I had had enough spare time to finish mine.
