I think its 150 bucks a year normally for Dreamhost. Dreamhost is nice to play around in. They have a great wiki and allow quite a bit of access on their servers. Though nothing beats VPS or Cloud hosting. Build a full OS, install whatever software you need, duplicate it, play around with it, don't like it? remove it, build a new one. Thats a good deal.
