This week pick is a 21 years old young artist named Lily Allen. A young girl with cute little voice and a dolly style. Her songs are quite amusing and fun to listen. She has a long name, don’t you think?

Lily Rose Beatrice Allen(born May 2, 1985) is an English pop artist, currently signed to Regal/Parlophone (EMI), and known for songs such as “Smile” and “LDN”. She is the daughter of actor/comedian/musician Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. Her single “Smile” reached #1 on the UK singles charts in July 2006.

I picked the following five as my favorites from her album – Alright, Still.

Alfie – I like Alfie very much, it has this marching kind of music and the lyric is also very funny. It’s about her brother and shows the usual bro-sis relationships such as pulling hair and swearing each other. Just like me and my bro except that mine doesn’t smoke weed and need no help from me. My bro is quite a smart one (NOT!).

Smile – is kinda like a revange on her ex. The lyric doesn’t tell much but you got to watch the video and see her cruel little act to get back at her ex.

This week music pick got to be Nelly Furtado’s Loose album cos’ I’ve been listening this album for weeks and it’s growing on me. Every single song in there is unique in its own way. The beats have never been repeated. Just love her vocal, style and the music. Well ofcos I can’t share the whole album with you but I picked out some I like. Quite hard to pick since I like it all. I guess the followings touched me quite intensely so here they are.

Love this spanish song – Te Busque, which I think also included in her previous album. There are two version (English and Spanish), I prefer the Spanish version though I don’t understand a single word. Dig through the following chorus translation for my own amusment.

I was checking out some songs that I’ve downloaded this week and this song caught my attention. Actually it’s the artist name – Angela Aki; I remember reading about her and her album “Home” a few days back. I don’t remember which blog/post I read but I think I’ve probably got this mp3 from that post. Anyways…

Angela Aki is completely bilingual in English and Japanese as she was raised in Japan, but moved to Hawaii at the age of fifteen where she graduated from Iolani School. From there she moved on to George Washington University where she graduated with majors in politics and music.

The vocal is clear, strong and just beautiful so I dig up a bit to get its lyric and voila! There she is – Japanese-Italian-American beauty with glasses (hehe) and that particular song is the theme song from Final Fantasy XII. Farther more, I’ve also come across Japanese version of the song on YouTube. I think I prefer the Japanese version better as I feel she put more feeling in her mother tongue.

The lyric is nice, the melody is sweet, the artist looks grand in her geeky specs; what else can I say, it works for me. Her album “Home” is also pretty cool. It’s mainly Japanese songs mixed with English verses.

I felt bad, I didn’t participated in last week poem tagging. It’s not because I didn’t write a poem, as a matter of fact I wrote one. It’s cos’ my poem was so stupid that I felt too lame/shame to post it. My very first reviewers say it all (bro, mom).

I’ve never written about my personal stuffs like love stories, relationships matters and anything to do with those touchy heart stuffs here.

For one reason, I have nothing to write about and another is I’m not capable of discussing those delicate things in most favorable manner.
