Me, Myself and Mayvelous

Hello hello, I forgot to post a music pick yesterday, I was fully occupied (watching movies, eating, sleeping); anyways I’ve selected six old songs this week and am going to introduce one new singer. Incase if you haven’t heard/are wondering what this post is about, you can check an introductory post last week which explains about this.
This week songs are especially dedicated to self-proclaimed “Ko Ko” out there. LOL nah…I just found some of our old songs with “Ko Ko” in it so compiled it together here.
Phwe – Icy7ven
I’ve introduced her in last week post. This week she sang the following two songs. I think “Tate Ta Kho A Chit” is from “Mu Paing Chit Thu” movie with Kyaw Thu and May Than Nu. Very old one, if I remember it right. It’s a nice movie though I forgot the whole story, I guess the song was sang when Kyaw Thu was away and May Than Nu got sick…or something like that.
The 2nd song is from May Kha Lar’s album sang by Yu Za Na. I think Phwe is better than Yu Za Na in vocal. I don’t like Yu Za Na voice much cos’ it’s kinda like throaty and flat. But she knows how to sing so it’s good for her.

NWP
This guy is my OLD school friend. He’s a shy one; young, good looking, smart (doing his Masters), kind, patient (that’s what he said, but I don’t think so), single (all the ladies out there, if you’re interested, just give a buzz lol) and he sings quite well too. There you go man; I’m saying all good things about you so you owe me a good lunch. Bite sar nay tal kwa!
Both songs are nice. I think “Kyin Nar Lo Chit Pa Ya Say” is originally sung by Doe Lone. NWP sang it quite differently in terms of ah…how to say…breaking parts and the tune. But his version is also good and easy listening. I don’t know who sang “Myat Lone Chin Sakar Pyaw Nay Pyi” but it’s a nice one too.

I said no more music pick last time rite? Well…I lied, kind of. I was digging up old emails and I came across some of my friends’ songs; then the idea struck me – to do music picks on those. You see, a few of my friends are really musical and they have such good talents that are hidden behind their busy selves. I, as their good friend, have a responsibility to promote those hidden talents and show them off to the public. You never know, one day they’ll thank me or swear at me. hehe.
Phwe – Icy7ven
First of all, I like to introduce this young and talented missy – Phwe. She’s one of my 7ven friends and is a great singer in our group. Her best interests are to sing, chat and diet. She can sing for hours, no need any water or backup. She sings at home, in the loo, in bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, her friends’ places, and any place she can possibly think of singing. At the moment she is concentrating on her study. Due to her parents’ no-singing policy, she has to finish her studies first then follow her dreams. Already she got bookings from her friends to sing at their special occasions.

Missy sang at last year Thingyan festival too, I bet she’s practicing for this year Thingyan as well. You can request her to sing any song you have in mind. Oh yah she can sing quadri-lingual, Myanmar, English, Indian and Nepalese. How cool is that! Last time she sang me “Kush kush ho te hel” song and I think even Ashwaya Rai need to practice more on her vocal to catch up our Missy. hehe
Glass Alley
This is one of my friend’s high school band, sort of. A group of hsch friends teamed up to do a bit of recording. Sadly, the band is pretty much no more due to their members getting married and entering the chaos of daily life. The members were Meli, Albert, Jonathan, Steve and Forlani (my friend). I think Forlani played bass and did the intro part. Don’t know who the vocalist is but he’s got a potential. Sounded like John Mayer’s voice. There you go, shout me something good. Haha

These two songs are from one of their live shows. The recording is not that good in some parts but I think it’s alright. Both are their own creations so no replication please.
May – G7ven
A Ham, Ahamm! Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, lend me your ears. I have a great pleasure to introduce this amazing, talented, beautiful, magnificent, gorgeous, the marvelous (Cut, cut!), ME. A ha` ha`
Hey nothing wrong with promoting yourself alrite. There is this marketing theory – the more you promote yourself, the more people will buy from you. (or something like that) Not that I got anything to sell you, I’m just giving an example…well you know what I mean. I don’t think you need farther intro for me. I don’t sing anywhere and singing is not my specialty. I listen most of the time and am a good listener. Just for fun, I do sing from time to time for my own pleasure. I got a great support from my family, especially bro and sis to shut myself up whenever I try to sing.

In Hlet Kyi Par Oo, ahoot* cough* cough* I was screaming that much but that person never look back. What a fool. I got a sore throat after that. A friend sent me a scratched background music so it came out terrible. All my recordings sux. Well who cares! Do excuse me, if you hear some dog barking at the background. My dog wanted to sing too (or may be complaining my singing), so just to satisfy her, I have to record a few of her woofs* as well.
Alrite, that’s all for this week. Hope you enjoy listening all our songs and our sweet voices (especially mine rite?).hehe
I requested some songs from a few friends of mine so you’ll get to listen more from simple and ordinary talents in weeks ahead. Oh yah, if you’re interested to join us, do send me your songs. It doesn’t have to be your own creation. It can be Karaoke versions too. I just wanna hear your voices. Like my friend said, “any publicity is a good publicity”, so don’t be shy, lend me your voices.
Send me your voices and a bit of your info to mayvelous [at] gmail [dot] com

Let me start this week music pick with two hot songs.
Beyonce + Shakira – Beautiful Lier
You don’t want to miss this. This one is an amazing combo of the two most favorite singers’ new song. Both of them are so HOT; Beyonce as a wild sexy woman while Shakira on the other hand is more sophisticated one with captivate charms. There was a comment about Shakira being the REAL reason behind Global Warming and I think I have to second on that. LOL
The song by itself is not that outstanding but you must check out youTube video. You’ll be replaying more than once for sure. Both of them got great vocal but Shakaria got this unique throaty-nosy voice which is more attractive in my opinion. Beyonce learn the salted-worm moves from the worm queen Shakira. I still prefer Shakira on those moves. I think Beyonce is much better with her wild leach-mambos.
Ok if you don’t like worms and leaches then we could say…Jelly Shake and Shivering. But come to think of it, Jelly can’t twist and turn; they only bounce from side to side. So Shakari is definitely a worm and as for beyonce, I must say…she is more like shivering jelly. Hehe
They should make more songs with the combo, the record will sell like crazy. I want to see trio – Beyonce, Shakira and JLo, wow that gonna be so cool.

Rihanna + Nicole Scherzinger – Winning Women
Last week we got www, this week it’s ww.
This is another hot pair – young, beautiful and talented Rihanna team up with Nichole, ultra thin hot chic, the lead singer from Pussy Cat Dolls (PCD). It’s for a new TV ad “Fusion Deodorant” or something. Not bad.
Ok enough with combos, I was planning to post some slow, nice songs this week but I just have to post the first two. Now back to my picks.
Norah Jones – Thinking About You + Wake Me Up
You must have heard of her, she was the top hit a few year back with “Come Away With Me” song. This two songs are from her new album, Not Too Late, which selling with a great number. She’s very good at making you sleep. I listen her songs whenever I want to sleep, and it takes me only half of her songs then I’ll be sleeping like a log. She got this unique vocal which is kind of drowsy yet sweet. I only like this two songs the most from “Not Too Late” album. Others are just too sleepy to keep listening.

Emma Bunton – All I Need To Know
Haven’t seen her for ages, she was one of the Spice Girls back in the old days. Emma looking abit oldish in the video but vocal is still sweet in this beautiful song.
Jewel – Quest For Love
Jewel is not really my favorite but I still like her. She’s more like country style or something. A friend of mine loves her songs, so this is for her. It’s from Jewel’s new album, “Alice in he wonder land”.
Sarah Brightman – Stranger In Paradise
She is one of the classical vocalists. You know those sing with loud, pitchy, tiny voices in opera and stuffs. Yah, her songs are not that classic but they are slow and nice to listen. I like it anyway. It’s good to sleep with.

And…that’s about it. Enjoy!

This week pick is a 21 years old young artist named Lily Allen. A young girl with cute little voice and a dolly style. Her songs are quite amusing and fun to listen. She has a long name, don’t you think?
Lily Rose Beatrice Allen(born May 2, 1985) is an English pop artist, currently signed to Regal/Parlophone (EMI), and known for songs such as “Smile” and “LDN”. She is the daughter of actor/comedian/musician Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. Her single “Smile” reached #1 on the UK singles charts in July 2006.
I picked the following five as my favorites from her album – Alright, Still.
Alfie – I like Alfie very much, it has this marching kind of music and the lyric is also very funny. It’s about her brother and shows the usual bro-sis relationships such as pulling hair and swearing each other. Just like me and my bro except that mine doesn’t smoke weed and need no help from me. My bro is quite a smart one (NOT!).
Oh I only say it cos I care,
So please can you stop pulling my hair.
Now, now there’s no need to swear,
Please don’t despair my dear, Mon frere.[ Lyrics ]
Smile – is kinda like a revange on her ex. The lyric doesn’t tell much but you got to watch the video and see her cruel little act to get back at her ex.
At first when I see you cry,
yeah it makes me smile, yeah it makes my smile
At worst I feel bad for a while,
but then I just smile I go ahead and smile[ Lyrics + YouTube ]
Littlest Things – It’s sad yet sweet.
The littlest things that take me there
I know it sounds lame but its so true
I know its not right, but it seems unfair
That the things are reminding me of you
Sometimes I wish we could just pretend
Even if for only one weekend
So come on, Tell me
Is this the end?[ Lyrics ]
LDN – Her experience on roaming around London town.
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
you can see it’s all lies[ Lyrics ]
Friday Night – I like the chorus from this one. About Friday night clubbing and cat fight.
Don’t try and test me cos you’ll get reaction,
Another drink and I’m ready for action,
I don’t know who you think you are,
But making people scared wont get you very far.[ Lyrics ]
There you have it, enjoy.

Another wordpress update is out and about – WordPress 2.0.6, seems like this is the last release before WP goes into 2.1 beta stage.
This is the latest release in our stable 2.0 line, which we’ve committed to maintaining for several more years.
Here’s what’s new:
- The aforementioned security fixes.
- HTML quicktags now work in Safari browsers.
- Comments are filtered to prevent them from messing up your blog layout.
- Compatibility with PHP/FastCGI setups.
For developers, there’s a new anti-XSS function called attribute_escape(), and a new filter called “query” which allows you filter any SQL at runtime.
Right, so gotta upgrade it this weekend. Just a note for you guys anyways.
