Here is one good site I came across (via barnyar, I think). It’s a very neat blog (wp platform), well organized categories for authors, download links using Megaupload, very clean no ad (yet) and might become users generated content site like any other ebooks share sites in the future as they accept contribution from users. I’m very much impressed with the site as I find many good books I like. I found two books from my favorite author Juu. Gonna download them soon. One of the advantages for providing a site like that in blog format is that you can roll the feed and keep yourself updated regularly than the normal static sites. So good work whoever the owners are.

Just one small thing I like to see/suggest is to put the book covers in each post and if possible a brief intro/description of the book. But I know it could be too much hussel for the site owner as he got to manage lots of books and some books might not have covers. But just a thought anyways as it will make it much prettier and informative for each post. The site is very new so I bet they might be doing lots of improvments later on. (like replacing default wp blogroll list with related myanmar ebook site links etc)

It’s a good thing they have “Help” page explaining how to use Megaupload and also provided the login info. Very thoughtful indeed. Note: Once you click on the category link, it will direct you to a page with all entries for that particular category/author. Download links are disabled there and you have to click post title to get to proper page with enabled download link. Oh check out the “Credits” page write up. I find it quite amusing especially the last sentence. Becareful, you might twist and tangle your tongue as I did. Let me count how many “mm-ebooks” word they used in that one paragraph……..they need one more “mm-ebook” word to have 10 in total so how about adding “Thank you, mm-ebook admin” in the end as the closing paragraph. hehe that should make it total of 10.

Check out the parent site ie. www.mmblogs.net too. I think they’re using WordPress MU and providing free blog service on my favorite wp platform which is very cool indeed. They got a good write up on what their site is all about and some rules and regulations. The only thing I don’t see that they should have is the network user links. Should provide the links of all those blogs that using their service. It’ll be good to see how people make use of their service don’t ya think so?

You may or may not notice that authors and editors from GV has been aggregating your sites and occasionally featuring/linking to your interesting posts. Those who have wordpress blogs will notice it quicker than those of blogger as there is a link tracking feature WP provides to detect the back links frequently. Ofcos’ you can always check Technorati for back-linking and tracking conversations.

GV is very search engines friendly site. The post published there will be on google search hit within an hour or so. That means, your link will get a bit of search branches and link bites. GV is also an internationally well known center for collecting news hence whatever featured on the site will reach to a vast medium of global readers.

I guess they haven’t updated the list for quite sometime now cos’ it is an old, incomplete compilation. They got only a few Myanmar feeds that time and no feed from Fiji in there. But ofcos each regional author has his own feed list. I have my own compilation for Myanmar blogs and also quite a few Fiji feeds. Due to last year coup in Fiji, many political blogs bloom up along with a few personal blogs. There is a good possibility of more Fiji blogs to come as awareness of blogging has been spreading through media – newspaper, forums, social networking and among youth groups.

The main difference between Myanmar and Fiji blogosphere is that, Fiji blogs are excelled in English; almost all of them post in English language with a few exceptions of Fijian language blogs. Where else for Myanmar blogosphere, a lot of new blogs emerge in Myanmar language and also some of the formerly English blogs are now transformed into native language blogs. Each has its own pros and cons; I won’t go farther into that.

Anyways, GV is starting to get interested in Fiji and South Pacific blogosphere as well as Myanmar Blogs. So if you find any interesting blogs/news from these regions especially from Myanmar, just give me a shout. The world is listening, so speak up your voices.

Oh Lunchers, your Lunch in Suva blog has already been noticed; how about that huh?

It’s this time of the year again – Thingyan (water festival), so-called the joyest occation in Myanmar. For me it’s just boring…boring…boring.

It’s been a decade our family is away from Thingyan. We don’t celebrate proper Thingyan in Fiji as there are very few Myanmar families, most of them caring only about work and daily routines that they sometimes did not notice Thingyan at all. The best we could do for Thingyan is to make lots of food and send to friends’ places.

We came here since we were too young age, (Me – 13, bro – 11, sis – 7), that we don’t have much memories about Myanmar Thingyan. The only thing I remember was throwing water at neighbours and whoever pass in front of our house. About two, three times we went to play water at a mandut built by my dad’s ministry. Since we are too young, our parents only let us play for a few hours then we were to sit and watch the shows quietly. We didn’t have an experience of driving around in city to get soak or fooling around with friends. Our Thingyan were mainly about food and play water with friends for specific time frame. So we lack certain feelings yet this time of every year we miss Thingyan…just miss it, don’t know why.

I was gonna write properly about Myanmar Thingyan and the traditions for my foreign friends but I feel very lazy rite now. We got a lunch party today, so may be I’ll continue later. This week I got two songs from Phwe’s old collections. “Ta Di Ya Nay Mhar Par” is about rememberence of the old university by Mie Mie Win Phay and Phwe sang it pretty well, though I think the song should be abit slower cos’ it’s suppose to be a sad song. “Pa Soe Nae Tite Pong” is Phwe’s favorite. The song is about wearing Burmese traditional dress – a gal is telling her bf to wear proper dress when he come see her parents. Her parents don’t like baggy cloths and next time if he doesn’t wear proper clothing, she will not accept him. It’s a good song though I find it kinda funny.

A friend from Tonga forwarded me this beautiful song. This is the first time for me to listen a Tongan song and I like it. Sometimes back, one of my friend sent me a PNG song which also has the similar name Maria or Mae in it. Unfortunately I misplaced the file and couldn’t find it back. But I think PNG and Tongan dialect are a bit similar…may be not. I also lost a CD with many good songs from South Pacific – Polynesia, Melanesia, Micronesia and all those small island nations. I’ve been losing things lately, hmm so bad! Anyways, I requested the song details and here is what he sent me. Sweet isn’t it. I bet his gal must be really touched by it.

I wrote this in dedication to my current girlfriend. Her name is Demarise, who is currently studying in Africa. Due to the long distance relationship, and being, what we call it, ‘lovesick’ most of the time, I decided to put all my thoughts into a song, with my heart etched to it. The chorus of the song has her name in it.

I never thought this song would be recognized. I guess it’s just that I put my whole heart into it, where there are also others out there who can identify themselves with me. We all go through times when you think you will go crazy just missing somebody you love so much. I have translated the lyrics of the song in English, though I wish you knew Tongan because the heat of the matter is better explained in my mother tongue language, Tongan.

It’s L Sine Ze’s song and my recording is crap, overriding her vocal. “Nha Ko Tu Chit Ta Mhya” is very OLD song from a very OLD movie – “Thingyan Moe”, singing about two love birds. It’s a duet song but I sang for both. I can’t keep up the vocals … oh well…who cares!
