Burma 59th Independence Day

Burma MapSo it is Burma’s 59th Independence Day since Burma achieved its independence from the British colonial rule on 4th January 1948.

I thought of writing something about our Independence Day but nothing came out from my head.
Are we celebrating?
Are we happy?
Are we independent?

I don’t feel a thing about it, I don’t even remember sometimes.
I thought of putting up our flag on this post. Then I got confused which flag to put.
I thought of writing as “Myanmar” then I messed up with “Burma”.
I tried to remember how we celebrate Independence Day back in Yangon, the capital city then I remembered it has changed.
I tried hard to remember something about Independence Day…nothing…nothing at all.

Oh well, what a shameful state of mind I’m having. Anyway at least I got the date right.

So Salute!

The Food and I

FoodI don’t feel like eating these days. I lost interest in eating especially while I’m into something I won’t even bother to look at the food.

It’s not that I’m dieting or anything. I never have in mind to diet and I don’t need to as I’m genetically structured as a tiny-thin homo sepian. Just that, these days I’m having very bad eating habit. When I eat, I eat alot and when I don’t, I don’t touch a thing.

Am I sick? No, I’m just fine. Physically I’m all set. May be I’m mentally sick. :D

The most common element surrounding ALL Eating Disorders is the inherent presence of a low self esteem.

OUCH! It hurts yet so true. What kind of “low self-esteem”, I’m yet to discover.

I’m 5’2″ with 46kg. It’s been a few years my height and weight never go over that limit. I guess it’s normal that I stop growing in height but the weight is limitless so should fluctuate from time to time.

According to some standard weight vs height charts, I got to have around 52kg for my height. So I’m surely under weight. I do some checking and found out these common types of eating disorders and their symptoms.

Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is an extremely dangerous, life-threatening eating disorder in which a person intentionally deprives themselves of food and can literally starve to death in an attempt to be what they consider “thin.”

Out-of-control episodes of consuming abnormally large amounts of food. People with this disorder eat whether they are hungry or not and continue eating well past being uncomfortably full.

Compulsive Eating Disorder
Compulsive eaters feel incapable of controlling how much or how often they eat. They may feel unable to stop eating, eat very fast, eat when they’re not hungry, eat when they’re only alone, or eat nearly non-stop throughout the day.

Bulimia Nervosa
Consuming large amounts of food in a very short period of time, and immediately “purge,” ridding their bodies of the just-eaten food by self-inducing vomiting, taking enemas, or abusing laxatives or other medications.

obesity leads to chronic and often life-threatening eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa.

Out of those, the most relevant one would be … Anorexic? My sister teases me everyday that I’m anorexia cos’ I’m too thin compare to her (her so-called “Growing Child”, rather a little PIG!). No, I don’t think I’m Anorexia. Anorexics are those who starve themselves and dying to do anything to be thin. I’m definitely NOT anorexia, cos’ I don’t like being thin and I never starve myself.

I prefer soup and gravy these days than solid food. I’m sick of meat, it sticks in my teeth. I hate milk, I don’t like cereal, I have a problem with butter, margarine, I dislike wheat and I’m scare of fruits. I guess my thinness is cos of deficiency in protein, vitamins, fibers, carbohydrates, etc in my diet. Haha I’ll die of malnutrition very soon.

Nah…My guess is, I’m just having mid-20s crisis such as stress, worries, laziness, family problems, life hardships, parenting, kids, too much day dreaming, etc, which push me to have eating disorder.

So, any of you have any irregular eating patterns or any solution to solve my eating habit, do share with me too.

Home - Angela Aki I was checking out some songs that I’ve downloaded this week and this song caught my attention. Actually it’s the artist name – Angela Aki; I remember reading about her and her album “Home” a few days back. I don’t remember which blog/post I read but I think I’ve probably got this mp3 from that post. Anyways…

Angela AkiAngela Aki is completely bilingual in English and Japanese as she was raised in Japan, but moved to Hawaii at the age of fifteen where she graduated from Iolani School. From there she moved on to George Washington University where she graduated with majors in politics and music.

The vocal is clear, strong and just beautiful so I dig up a bit to get its lyric and voila! There she is – Japanese-Italian-American beauty with glasses (hehe) and that particular song is the theme song from Final Fantasy XII. Farther more, I’ve also come across Japanese version of the song on YouTube. I think I prefer the Japanese version better as I feel she put more feeling in her mother tongue.

Kiss Me Good-Bye (English)

Kiss Me Good-Bye

You say my love is all you need to see you through
But I know these words are not quite true
Here is the path you’re looking for, an open door
Leading to worlds you long to explore

Go, if you must move on alone
I’m gonna make it on my own

Kiss me good-bye, love’s memory
Follow your heart and find your destiny
Won’t shed a tear, for love’s mortality
For you put the dream in my reality

As time goes by I know you’ll see this of me
I loved enough to let you go free

Go, I will give you wings to fly
Cast all your fears into the sky

Kiss me good-bye, love is mystery
All of my life, I’ll hold you close to me
Won’t shed a tear, for love’s mortality
For you put the dream in my reality

Kiss me good-bye, love’s memory
You put the dream in my reality

Kiss Me Good-Bye

Anata wa mayotte ite mo

Kiss me good-bye, love’s memory

The lyric is nice, the melody is sweet, the artist looks grand in her geeky specs; what else can I say, it works for me. Her album “Home” is also pretty cool. It’s mainly Japanese songs mixed with English verses.

Some might find it boring if you’re not into this type of, “good-to-sleep-with”, songs. But I enjoyed it and there you go, my music pick.

Your Rings, Your Fingers

Diamonds are foreverToday, a friend of mine was telling me about her experience with wearing a ring on particular finger. She wore the rings on her thumbs and was asked by an old Chinese lady for her peculiarity. My friend just wears it as a fashion without any meaning to it, yet she came to ask me whether they got any meanings. I remember sometimes back, I’ve written about birth stones, rings and the fingers post on But I don’t have a clue on significant of wearing a ring on each finger or is there any at all?

As my nature, I like to check things out when I have some unresolved quests hence I did a bit of research on it and got this interesting information about fingers. No doubt, everything has its own meanings.

The first major factor to consider when analyzing a person’s hands is the concept of left and right being reflections of the subconscious and conscious mind, respectively. The wearing of rings will reveal areas of inhibitions, restrictions, or emphasis in the social realms governed by that finger.

I got some ideas about what each hand means and how to observer someone personality just by looking at the hand positioning/gestures.

The left hand is a reflection of man’s instinct and those beliefs and attitudes that are buried deep within the subconscious mind. The right hand is a reflection of man’s logical mind and those personal thoughts and preferences that are consciously known even though they are not always discussed openly.

Also found out these little facts on each fingers. I bet, you’ll be thinking twice which finger to wear a ring after you’ve read the article.

wedding ringThe Thumb: Willpower

Points to the self in a moment of personal pride, that closes over a fist when personally attacked. It is associated with the total self … the thumb represents the self…

A person who consistently keeps the thumb well separated from the rest of the fingers is a person who insists upon freedom of thought and action. This person values independence and the more prominently the thumbs are displayed, the more important is the sense of freedom at that moment.

fashion ringsThe Index Finger: Authority

This is the finger that wags in disapproval, that gestures informed or stubborn expertise, that indicates silent direction and commands. It is associated with leadership and ambition. It is rather interesting to note those fashion seekers who wear rings on their index fingers.

Ring1The Middle Finger: Identity

This is the finger most often used in obscene gesturing when one wishes to express an offense to personal dignity. This seems to be the finger with the most strength and balance, rooted firmly in the center of the hand. It is associated with our role in life, practicality, and the regulation of the foundations and limits of self. This finger announces “I am” and governs the way we see ourselves, our potentials, and our limitations.

A ring on this finger can announce that the person is unsure of personal roles or a place in society.

anniversary ringsThe Ring Finger: Creativity

Associated with affections, optimism, and artistic appreciation…This finger governs the potential of the shared self – what a person creates for self and for others as well as the legacies left after passing on. Such creativity extends to physical creation as well as material and mental creation.

The ring finger on the left hand is the only one with a direct connection to the heart. It is therefore more than coincidence that this became the finger that we restrict with a band at the marriage ceremony. It is a self-imposed restriction of the subconscious desires to share the self with others. A wedding, friendship, or engagement ring announces that the person’s creative fantasies are limited to the donor of that ring.

religious angel promise ringThe Little Finger: Relationships

This finger expresses man’s attitudes toward personal and sexual relationships. It is associated with rewards, both on a personal and materialistic level. A wide space would indicate freedom and independence of action in relationships with people and in all money-making endeavors. A more closed position would indicate that the person is less free with confidence, attentions, or speculations in finances. This finger indicates the person’s confidence in dealing with money – especially the ability to attract money through other people. The little finger also relates a person’s attitude about sexuality and relationships with the opposite sex.

To wear a ring on the little finger might announce an insecurity in relationships with people, perhaps even a sexual insecurity.

Man, that’s a lot isn’t it? I don’t know how they made those up anyway a good leisure time reading though. So, coming back to my friend having rings on both thumbs, I guess it’s either she has some strong will or it’s just a sense of fashion with outlandish style. Probably the latter.

Military Censors Fijitimes

Whoa! Now, Fiji’s becoming more like some country I know of. (wink*) Shall I say copy cat (whisper*) again? LOL

PM is in house arrest and Military taking over the government as well as public/media freedom of speech. Ouch, that’s just so mean.

Fiji Times shuts under censorship threat

The Fiji Times Limited has suspended publication after the Fiji military ordered the paper not to publish any “propaganda” against the new political leadership.

Yianni and Kakaivalu argued that a free press meant any and all opinions should be published in a balanced way. The Army said it would not tolerate the newspaper publishing any views that opposed those of the Army. Officers said the Army would instead close the newspaper.

Mr Yianni then ordered the newspaper closed himself. Yianni last night said the military’s demands breached the Constitution of Fiji, which specifically protects freedom of speech.

Yo Mr. Sheehy, if they don’t allow to post on Fijitimes, you can always put it up on strangepants. Most welcome on mayvelous too. haha

Well, one thing I can say is, although PM is under house arrest, international media and the public can reach him. He can communicate with outside world quite easily. Not like some house arrest in some country I know of. So I guess, it’s still not that bad. (trying to be optimistic)

I don’t know anything about politics and how this Fiji coup started, but from the look of it, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is too ugly to be in the “good guy” position. I guess Mr Qarase is much better looking to act as a good guy. LOL You bet, I’ll go for the good look to judge since I have no idea what/why they on cat-fight. One is throwing mean threats all over the places and another is crying for help. Mean while, I don’t know what the big-fat-old guy in the big house is doing. I guess he’s confusing himself over which side to take. Oh well he’s too old to keep awake and amuse himself while those people on cat-fight.
Oh the PM position just been filled. My friend didn’t get it, too bad.

…former Fiji Medical Association president Ratu Jona Senilagakali as the interim prime minister.
Military dismisses Fiji government

I’m learning how to spell “Democracy”, cos’ I kinda forgot that word these days.

Work in Progress

Work in progress sites are somewhat interesting. I’ve seen a few in the past like my friend’s,, site where he publishes his site in the state of progressive development. Now my favorite, “SimpleBits” has stripped the style and full on redesign in progress as well.

I like the very idea of in progress sites for:

  • you got to see how actual work (layout, design, typography, ideas, structures, etc) is done,
  • you got to study how developer/designer plan things through,
  • you got to learn some tips and tricks along the site progress,
  • you got to observe lots of things such as
    - how developer handle each task,
    - how much time/effort he put on the site,
    - how dedicated he is to the site,
  • and many other professional and personality aspect of the developer and the whole site development.

I also was thinking of posting site development in progress posts as I work on a few site but doing things in your head is alot easier than actually putting them down and working on it.

I guess some great minds think alike but when it’s with a role model like simplebits, it spread alot faster. You bet, I’ll be checking those sites regularly on their progress.

I hope Sarnil find some time to work on his site again soon as I heard he is very busy and on business trip. That reminds me, I’m still waiting for Jachin new posts.
Man, these guys are just so busy…or rather lazy?
