Damn Dishwasher
I need a good flask or a little teapot for my tea. Don’t wanna waste tea bags for each cup of hot water I drink. 1 tea bag can be used for about 3 cups ie. I just want a mild lukewarm tea so gotta get a good little flask and have to keep it save in my drawer. Whenever I clean a cup and keep it on my desk, it disappears the next day. The office cleaner must have taken it back to the kitchen. Let me keep my own clean cup at least! I don’t like the dishwasher they have here, it’s not clean at all and very disgusting with many residues still sticking to the dishes after. Why can’t they just leave a traditional liquid soup and a sponge there! Anyways…You see, I use this folded tissue paper to cover my tea cup just to keep it warm a bit longer. I’ve been wondering why the side facing the hot water doesn’t get wet but the outer side does. Hmm someone care to explain me the reason? I’ve never been good at Chemistry.

Tweets of the week
I just find this two pretty amusing.
@kaoskongo #YouKnowYourFijian ‘Umbrella’ is pronounced ‘Um-ba-re-lla’ #ella #ella

@sher0d Just viewed source on Bing: <html><head><title>Bing</title></head><body><iframe src=”http://www.google.com”></iframe></body></html>

Aussie Guys
Yesterday I was walking along Pitt St towards Castlereagh St and saw this two men kissing passionately in the middle of a very crowded street. Then another couple around World Square was hugging and whispering as they walk. Again this morning when I was on the way to work, on the bus, this big guy sitting next to me was flirting on the phone but I can very clearly hear the receiver from the other end was a man as well. Then I remember my Czech ex-flatmate once says; “In Australia, all the guys are either Married, Taken or Gays“. Hmm…O…K… I have no discrimination toward bi, tri, quad or whatever genders. I just find that people over here are very passionate and very openly show their affection in the public places. May be I’m just a traditionalist or come from a place where I don’t often see those kind of public affections so it’s kind of new for me.

Santa’s Close Relatives
I always have a problem with hairy people, especially those with extreme facial hair. I just can’t understand why they’re so very much in love with their facial hair; some cultivate them very carefully, some just have them for the sake of having them and some just doesn’t own a mirror or a shave. Whatever their reasons are, they just freak me out and kind of scare me. We had a lunch at this bar, Lord Nelson Brewery, last Friday. It was quite a crowded lunch hour; our table was right beside the entrance and 80% of the guys coming in have all those ugly facial hair and untidy long bird nest hair…urgh! Anyways, the lunch was nice, I had chilli crab spaghetti. I’m thinking of trying out the pie next time cos’ the table next to us were having pies and I’m very much curious about what those green stuffs on their pies are.

Ok that’s all for now. Ohhohoho

I woke up this morning by the sound of a friend’s txt message, wishing me a happy birthday. Yah, a year older again; who wants to celebrate their “YOU ARE GETTING OLD!!!” day anyways. So I slept again till 8:30 and finally woke up when my big mouth bro came to yell some lines in Japanese at my ears. Don’t know what he’s yelling about, saying birthday to me or swearing at me for always making him late for work. Lately, he’s been watching too many Animes, picking up quite a few words that I can’t keep up with him anymore.

I was thinking of taking a leave just to lazy around on my birthday but then I’m expecting some emails from customers and came to work anyways. See how responsible me is.

I got a few birthday wish emails from friends and a friend asking for cake. Come to think of it, I hardly have cakes for my birthdays, am sure I only have less than 10 birthday cakes to-date. The main reason is, I’m not fond of cakes and I tend to ask for other food (Burmese food like Kyar San Chat, Ohn Noe Khout Swal etc) than cakes. Anyways, mom cooks my favourite prawns today and I’ll ask her to cook something yummy for dinner as well.

It’s a bit of noisy day at work but same old routine so not much to talk about. A friend share his good news of receiving two job offers today and heard my boss’s happy about getting some $$ or something. It’s always good to see happy people; in my attempt to join their happiness, I checked my account and found out that I’m FJD 1.51/2 richer today. hehe. You see, I recently opened my new very first saving account (joint with bro) and that’s the interest I got for the month (rather 10days). Hey it’s better than nothing rite?

Surprisingly, I don’t wish or reminisce over things at all this birthday. I’m not quite sure it’s because I’m either content with my life or don’t care a thing about it at all. I’m just treating like just another day; guess age is catching up.

Anyways, got to get back to work; I’m just dropping a few lines on my long ignored blog in memory of my birthday. So do wish my boring life healthy, wealthy and sane.

I was having lunch and having some random thoughts. I don’t know how exactly but I was thinking about the word “fauna” from “flora fauna”. I forgot what I was thinking but when I realised, I was googling the word “floral fauna”. The first hit I got was this “Floral/Fauna” photoset by sigth on flickr.</>

It’s floral alright; I’m seeing lots of flower in the set. Everything seems pretty much the usual flower photos should be, but then there is it; this one photo really (…) me that I just have to click and view in detail.

It’s titled “Aroma“, a photo of seven year old girl embracing the roses. It’s so…ok, what’s the word I’m looking for? It’s the way she closed her eyes, her hand posture, the angle of her tilting head, the three roses. Everything about it is so… Captivating, enchanting…no, no I’m looking for the word starts with “Mes” …I keep saying like messimize, maximiz, mezzame and couldn’t get the right word out of it.

So, I asked my bro for help and he goes – immerse?, engrossed?, magnetized? No, not those but it has to start with “Mes”, then he finally said, “Mesmerised“. Yep, that’s the word! Then one of my colleagues asked who’s been mesmerised and he told me that the word is after Dr. Mesmer who specialised in hypnotism. Well, I didn’t know about that, so I quickly look through wiki and there he is – Franz Anton Mesmer.

Franz Anton Mesmer (born Friedrich Anton Mesmer May 23, 1734 – March 5, 1815) discovered what he called magnétisme animal (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_magnetism" title="Animal Magnetism" rel="external>animal magnetism) and others often called mesmerism. The evolution of Mesmer’s ideas and practices led James Braid (1795-1860) to develop hypnosis in 1842, his name being the root of the English verb ‘mesmerize’.

Arh like that!, I learn something new. Anyways where was I? Oh yes, the photos; I also checked out the other three photos of the same girl. For some reason, I cannot grab the direct url or save the images. I guess it must be to do with sharing privileges on the photos. Respecting the photographer’s rights, I don’t want to do a screen grab hence just get a small thumbnail of each photos and linked them to the proper page.

The 2nd one “Flower profile“, things that attracted me is her smooth, silky skin – her cheek and neck line and the way she’s looking at the roses.

The 3rd one “Roses” is … ohh soo cute! How so very lovely her face and action on trying to kiss/smell the roses.

The pose in “Brita” is interesting too, but it’s too monochrome compare to other three. Still, it’s very pretty. It says “actress” in the description. Indeed the little actress.

Well, what do you think? Very mesmerising aren’t they?

So I slept at 5:30am last night and come to work at 9am this morning.

I was reading 5th out of 9 volumes of very captivating Manhwa, “Operation Liberated Men”, until my dad woke up and started yelling at me to go to sleep. Ok I will post about Hwang Mi Ri and Lee Mi Ra (sisters?) later. Their Manhwa are so damn good. “Hot Blooded Woman” by Hwang Mi Ri is definitely a must read. It’s so funny and listed as one of the best Manhwa around. Anyways, back to the subject – the annoyances.

The annoyances started due to lack of sleep but more because I couldn’t finish the Manga in one go. I can’t wait to go home this evening and continue with the reading. So annoying! Why do I have to wait till I get home, while it sits on my laptop!

There are lots of ants in the office. The tiny, very fast moving red ants, they annoy the hell out of me. They’re running around on my coffee cup, going inside laptop, taking a walk on the screen and doing all sort of things to annoy me. I couldn’t find the spray, Mortein, either. The cleaning lady must have hidden it somewhere. So annoying!

Whenever I open Macromedia Fireworks 8 my display color scheme changes to basic scheme. I got reddish pink but it always change back into the annoying pale blue scheme. It doesn’t happen with Macromedia Dreamweaver program but only problem with Fireworks. Such an annoyance!

I always use Dual Monitors at work. My laptop highest resolution is 1680 x 1050px and the duel LCD is 1280 x 1024. Every time I change to dual mode, I have to go change their resolutions as well; otherwise the laptop screen takes the same resolution as the LCD and the display gone stretched out and weird. Why do I have to click many steps to change the simple setting, why can’t we do that by one click and it changes automatically? Arrgh annoying!

I have this problem most of the time with new folder column settings. They display unnecessary columns like ‘Date Taken’, ‘Tags’, ‘Rating’ etc. I only want ‘Size’ and ‘Date modified’. So I have to uncheck the options from column header but the stupid thing keep coming back every once in a while for the same folder. Why can’t it just save the same setting forever! May be I’ll have to set that in the option list. But still…remember it for god sake, so annoying!

Lately, I’m not sure when it started, my Firefox or the Download Helper extension must have screwed up. Whenever I try to download using download helper FF extension, the download dialog box doesn’t function well. I click “Save” button but the file is not saving. I have to do save at least 2 times for the file to pick up in the download box and starting downloading. Before I can just press “Enter” key and it saves just fine. Now even direct click to the button doesn’t work well and have to do it twice. It just annoy the hell out of me!

I can’t use my twhirl at home. I can’t login at all from home. It works just fine from office. What’s the meaning of this? Is it cos’ twhirl stores some sort of network settings during installation? Then how come the twhirl on my bro’s laptop is working fine both at home and work? Must be stupid vista security settings again? Arrghh So damn annoying!

I use to login to my Gmail account first, from there I click on “more” dropdown list then choose to go “Reader” link, but occasionally the dropdown got shorten and does not list all the other apps anymore, so I have to type in the direct URL to go to GoogleReader or GoogleGroup. So annoying!

The MS Word 2007 is so confusing! Annoying big tool bar on top is taking too much space, it’s no good if you have small screen resolution. I can’t find page browsing arrows which I use to find at the bottom of the document in previous versions. To move to the next page, I have to either scroll down or press page down, but I want “Next” and “Previous” controls at the bottom as the way it should be. I also can’t find the “Print” control when I start using it. Can you believe none of those big tabs list the damn “Print” icon in there? Then I finally found it when I click the stupid icon at the top-left corner of the document. Print is an important function and should sit at the obvious place; at lease have it in the context-menu. But noooooo, it just has to go play hide and seek with me. So annoying!

I still got lot of annoyances but the post gone too long so leaving it for next time. Don’t read other people annoying post if you don’t want to get annoyed!

Yippie! It’s Friday again!. Been occupied with things this week, I didn’t even realized that the week is almost over.

This whole week, I got to work on time. Oh yes, ON TIME!. Our normal office hours is 8:00 – 5:00; Normally I get to work around 8:30 – 9:30 in the morning and knock out around 5:30 – 6:00 in the evening. It’s amazing that I’m on-time this week and proud for myself. You go gal!

Come to think of it, I never wake up myself in the mornings. Every morning at 6:30, Dad bangs at my door and tries to wake me up. I never move an inch from those bangings. Around 7:00, my mb alarm shrills in my ears; what a tedious job to switch it off and go back to sleep. Around 8:00, my bro comes in and yell at my ear. He would ask whether I’ll go with Dad transport or take a taxi later. His yelling is the worst and I can’t shut him off. If I don’t budge by a few yells, he would kick me and pull me down from bed. Most dreadful thing he does is jump on my bed with his slippers on. What an arsehole! There go my peaceful sleep, I would wake up in flash and kick him off. I for once, hate the idea of wrinkling the bed sheet. I hardly let anyone sit on my bed and when I sleep, I try not to move a lot so I can keep my bed sheet free of wrinkles. For that reason, him and I are the worst enemies unless he gets rid of his annoying habit. Anyways, this week my being on time is cos’ I wake up at the alarm time and come by Dad’s transport.

Ok enough about my sleeping habits, now back to the point. After catching up feeds on Google Reader and done a few blog hopping, some thoughts come into head.

I see many blogs use gravatar enabled comment system. I like looking at posts with variety of gravaters in their comments. It’s very eye inspiring and brings more motivation to read the post. But unfortunately some regular bloggers/commenters don’t bother to make a good use of the gravatar feature. It’s very easy to get a gravatar for your email and doesn’t take much of your time setting up. I made mine years ago when I started using the gravatar plugin for my blog and never changed since. It doesn’t need any maintenance or regular logins to keep up the password expirations or worry about photo hosting. I’m surprised at those who choose to ignore the existence of this wonderful and convenient service. Give it a try when you have time, you won’t regret it. Get a Gravatar account.

Another thought that hits me is about centralizing blog feeds. Some of you (including myself) have multiple blogs which from time to time you need to change blog domain, the host or even the blog platform. In such cases, it’s best to use a good service like Feedburner to centralize your feed. It’s very convenient and helps both blogger and subscribers in terms of less work, more acturate blog subscription tracking and easy to maintain/manage feeds. I got two feedburner links which I published on my old theme and haven’t add in this new theme yet. I’ll do that later.

By having a centralized feed, the blogger does not need to worry about notifying his readers with the new feed changes. He only needs to update the new feed link in the Feedburner control panel and it will process it accordingly. For example, my blog mayvelous.blogspot.com has .atom.xml feed previously. With the new blogger.com, it was changed to RSS feed with different link format. Both the old and the new feeds work fine, which is excellent, the readers can choose any of the two to subscribe. But having such multiple feeds make it very hard to track the total number of subscriber on your blog.

Another bad thing about individual-unburn feed is – when you change your blog domain, all the feed url also get updated hence might cut the original feed subscribers from your blog. There is a possibility of your old feed still functioning if you are only redirecting a domain but in case of changing an entire blog platform, there is no way your old feed can work as before. If that happens, it’s very hard for a blogger to request the readers to update their subscription. Probably the blog will lose half of the readers due to people (myself as one) plain old laziness in updating things.

Hence centralizing your feed is <strike>essential</strike> a good thing to consider and the feedburner is known to be a very useful service for many bloggers. So organize your feed by burning your feeds in a feedburner account. You can also use this site to combine multiple feeds before burning one in Feedburner.

Alrite, the post getting too long and I’m getting bored with typing so I’ll continue my other Friday thoughts later.

Kinda of feel odd, trying to translate back from my Myanmar post to English. Or should I express things in English first then translate to Myanmar? Nah, the feeling is just wrong. I think I shouldn’t translate but just write whatever comes in mind as long as the post gives the same message. I wonder how Mady done it cos’ both of her Myanmar and English posts are very well sync. Anyhow, I’ll try again later and see how it go.

Enjoy your Friday and have a good weekend!

A friend of mine invited me to Twitter a while back and I wasn’t really interested for it has an ugly interface and the site is ugly and … it was ugly and … just ugly and … well I decided not to like it.

Anyhow, I subscribed to their newsletter updates and from today’s issue, I came across this Twitter Apps page.

I was surprised to find that there are quite a number of applications developed for this ugly Twitty thingie and I learn some new words from there, like – Twadget, Twitterlex, TwitDir, Twitterverse, Twitigg, Twotteroo, TwittIt, Twitterlicious, TwitterBerry, JTwitter, iTwit, Twippera, TwittyTunes, TwitterFox etc…and I got myself a <strike>twitted</strike> twisted tongue.

Since I’m not a fan of Desktop Apps, and more of Web/Browser Apps, I decided to check out a few FF extensions from there. I installed TwittyTunes, Power Twitter Plugin for Firefox and Twitterbar Addon for Firefox/Flock.

I’m one of those who are too lazy to read through instructions but want to see result instantly, so after the installation I expected to see obvious result. The only obvious result I can see with above three extensions is from TwittyTunes where it created its icon at the bottom-right of my browser status bar. Its functionalities are just so cool and easy to use with one click away.

As for the other two extensions, no obvious new icons or context-menus were shown; only when I customize the toolbar then I found the icon of TwitterBar which I need to drag out to the tool bar. I was expecting to try out Power Twitter’s cool functionalities such as posting images, audio and video to Twitter as mentioned on their page, but was disappointed to find that there is no obvious function to play around with. I can’t even find its icon and I don’t know how to test that out. May be my bad eyes.

Anyway I uninstalled the other two and stick with TwittyTune. I posted a twit or two with it and immediately I was hooked.

All thanks to lovely TwittyTune, I am beginning to find Twitting interesting. Previously I post random thoughts on one of my blogs but Twitter is more convenient way of posting randomness and nonsense. So I decided to make a good use of it. And here it goes, my one and very own “TwittVelous” to publicize my cunning craziness!!! Ke Ke Ke…Fu Fu Fu < — Japanese way of laughing

Oh yah, if you wanna follow my nonsense then go ahead here is my RVelous, I mean RSS.

Ciao!

Most probably “Ngar” is your ego but for my own easy translation purpose, lets’ take it as someone, say “X”.
So….when I translate, (or this is how I understand)

The 1st line says:

Will X gonna win over ME? (or) Will your Ego win over You?

The 2nd line again says:

Would ME gonna be beaten by X? (or) Will You get beaten by your own Ego?

In both way, you loses. ie. ME loses, and both lines have the same meaning.

Shouldn’t be like

Will X gonna win over ME (Will your Ego win over You?) and
Will ME gonna win over X? (Will You be able to beat your own Ego?)

Ok now, how to write that in Burmese? Ngar Muu Nga Ko Aung Myi Law…
“Muu” is something like “Ka” rite? hmmm….

I think I understand what this poem is trying to say. I’m just being an annoyingly picky person sometimes. May be my whole understanding of the poem is wrong. Sometimes meaning of the poems are so hard to figure out but I still enjoy reading those kinds and try to understand their hidden meaning.

Translation of the poem is something like this. Actually I have no idea how to translate it properly. It’s not direct translation; I just made up some parts cos’ some are weird to translate.

Ngar (Self or Ego)

I have my Ego and you have yours,
When our Egos meet,
Both turn into a fight,
With volcanic destruction, they clashes.

Ego being the problem,
Think of a chance/way to resolve it,
Search for the goods, throw away the bads,
Though you try to discard it,
It will act as a sleeping cobra,
A note from a flute could arouse,
And turn him into a deadly weapon.

Oh – Ego my buddy, shall we,
Test our strength against will,
May the best one win,
Will you win over me?
Will I be defeated by you?

Min Thu Wun

Note: Is “Ngan Mway” a Cobra? or a Viper? or a Krait?

A few days ago, I received an email from GV regarding my post, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s Birthday, translation to Bangla. The translator informed me that he had a hard time translating the word “Daw” but luckily he got some understanding of that word from the book he own, “Living Silence (Burma under military rule)” by Christina Fink. He understands it as a polite prefix for aunts or older women and likes to know if it’s safe to interpret as “respected“.

I guess his translation on the word is quite alright. Although it’s not exactly means as “respected”, it is the most suitable translation in this case. Burmese language is one of very confusing languages as one word can form many different meanings. Forget about the language, this kind of addressing someone is a tough job even for some Burmese themselves (eg. Me).

In English, they tend to address a person by their name directly (in many normal cases) and use Mr. or Mrs/Ms/Miss regardless of the age. Of course it’s a different story when the statuses involve. But I’m only talking about normal cases. In Burmese, to address a normal person, you need to consider the following factors:
# gender
# age
# level of association with that person

The following is how I understand. There are no set rules for this matter so this is just my own understandings. These titles are used regardless of blood relation between the two parties.

# General Association

Male

Female

[ Same Age ] – direct name eg. Aung Tun
[ 20- yrs ] – “Maung” or “Mg” Aung Tun
[ 20 - 30 yrs ] – “Ko” Aung Tun
[ 30+ yrs ] – “U” Aung Tun

[ Same Age ] – direct name eg. May Hnin Phyu
[ 30- yrs ] – “Ma” May Hnin Phyu
[ 30+ yrs ] – “Daw” May Hnin Phyu

# Younger to Elder

Male

Female

[ 1 - 3 yrs older ] – “Ko Ko” (Bro)
[ 3 - 10 yrs older ] – “A Ko” (Bro)
[ 10 - 20yrs older ] – “U U” (Uncle)
[ 20+ yrs ] – “Ba Ba” or “A Foe” (grand)

[ 1 - 3 yrs older ] – “Ma Ma” or “Ma” (Sis)
[ 3 - 10 yrs older ] – “Ma” or “A Ma” (Sis)
[ 10 - 20yrs older ] – “Aunty” (Aunt)
[ 20+ yrs ] – “Fwar Fwar” or “A Fwar” (grand)

# Elder to Younger

Male

Female

[ 1 - 10 yrs younger ] – “Nyi Lay” (Bro by elder male) or “Maung Lay” (Bro by elder female) or just by name
[ 10+ yrs younger ] – “Thar” (Son)

[ 1 - 10 yrs younger ] – “Nyi Ma Lay” (Sis) or just by name
[ 10+ younger ] – “Tha Mee” (Daughter)

Those are the most official ones that I can think of but there are many others slangs and names usage depending on situation, status, title, regional, relationship etc.

The above usages also act as a term to replace the word “You” while talking with a respected group. A direct translation of English word “You” in Burmese is “Nin” or “Min” but those terms are only used while talking among the same age group or between close friends. There are also many different ways of addressing oneself, the word “I“, depending on the situation. Though a direct translation of “I” is “Ngar“, that word is reserved to use only among close friends and is very rude to use with elders or distance friends/strangers. The following is how Burmese use to address themselves as, “I“, according to their age.

Male[ Same age ] – “Ngar”
[ < 15yrs or Teen] – “Thar”
[ > 15yrs ] – “Kya Naw”

Female[ Same Age ] – “Ngar”
[ < 15yrs or Teen ] – “Tha Mee”
[ > 15yrs ] – “Kya Ma”

Again, all of the above are for normal situations between normal people. There are many more addresses to use with <strike>abnormal</strike> special cases such as talking to a Buddhist Monk or to King or Queen <strike>or Generals</strike>. Seriously, I get a headache whenever I have to talk with Burmese. I have to think about 2 – 3min before uttering a word in Burmese while the English “You, I, Mr, Mrs/Ms/Miss” words make addressing so simple.

Have been said and getting back to the main point, I simply used the word “Daw” in that post as an elderly woman of 30+ age with the meaning somewhat related to the lady or rather the respected lady. I feel very impolite to address her as just her name,”Aung San Suu Kyi”, and I don’t feel familiar enough to call her “Mother” or “Aunty” though she is older than my mom and suits the title. So using a respectable generalization is the best solution.

Another note on that post is that it was translated into 7 different languages. I’m getting scare to write for GV as it is viewed by many viewers from various background. With my incompetence language skill, I feel ashamed to post there. Online/web medium is a scary thing, one mistake will be caught by thousands eyes. I don’t care if people look down upon me for my mistakes but I don’t want them to look down upon my country/men for my lack of skills. Damn it’s a hard job being a writer. My respect for journalists grew these days. I’ve never been good at writing and never have an interest in professional writing. I only write for myself. As long as I understand what I write, I’m all fine. But ever since I started blogging, I can no longer write for myself only. I guess as your blog grow, you have to grow along with it. You have to mature along with your reader. So I must try to improve as best as I can. Yep, that’s the spirit May!!

X: What’s for lunch today?
Me: Chicken and Egg
X: Very good; mother and fetus.

Thought #1: I never thought of it that way before…now that he mentioned it, it sounds very eeky. I feel sorry to eat up the whole family. Gosh that’s it, I’m gonna tell my mom, not to cook Chicken and Egg the same time.

Note: It’s not cooked as combination but a separate two curries. Egg, potato and green peas as one and separate fried chicken as one. Still…mother and fetus.

Thought #2: You know, when you eat stake or pork or anything with lots of meat fibers, it got stuck in your teeth. I hate that feeling the most. Sometimes if it’s really stuck in between, you can’t even remove them by brushing your teeth. You gotta floss them with some thread. Oh I just hate that so much. So trying to eat less meat.

Thought #3: Last night Mom says, she’s becoming a Peking duck because she missed her badminton games for a few weeks. I asked her what is that mean and she said Peking ducks can’t wonder around. They just sit in their own little boxes, get fed everyday and waiting for their time to get eaten. It sounds very painful just living to get killed. Mom said every animal live stock are just living and eating to get killed/eaten. That make us, human, to be very cruel beings. I feel very sorry for those animals.

Thought #4: I recalled someone says, eating meat is regarded as consuming on dead corpses. That is just so gross.

Thought #5: Going back to thought #2, I got another thought about tooth brushes. There is a Colgate tooth brush Ad on FijiTVOne. There is this big glamorous tooth brush and small normal tooth brush. It goes something like this:

Small Brush: Ah…excuse me Sir; are you the Colgate 360?
Big Brush: Yes, I am.
Small Brush: Is that true that you have a tongue cleaner?
Big Brush: That’s right, not only tongue cleaner, I’m a teeth and gum cleaner.
Small Brush: Waarh!!
Big Brush: You see kid, blar bla blah……
(The big brush talks of some explanation talk on his special features and stuffs.)

Finally the small brush says:
Small Brush: You know when I grow up I want to be just like you.
And the Ad ends there.

Whenever that Ad comes, I always wonder this BIG question in my head:
When a tooth brush grows old, you throw it in the rubbish bin and buy a new one.
How can that “Small Brush” be just like the “Big Brush”?

C’mon, I don’t want to disappoint him, but he gonna go straight to the bin for sure. Unless you recycle him (upgrade to Colgade 360) or whatever. But he still going to the bin. LOL.

Thought #6: I have another big thought on Coca-Cola TV Ad as well. This guy, he put a coin to the soda machine, the coin starts rolling in and there is this big Cola factory with all those cartoon characters bringing Coke bottle, filling up by mid-air Cola tank, icemen gets blown away by big fan to frozen the Coke bottle and they shooting fireworks as filling up the gas…and finally perfectly filled Coco-Cola bottle comes out from the machine. The guy took it and get confused by little Christmas music coming out from the box. The Ad ends there.

Now here is my thought. I like the Ad very much for all those cartoon characters and the music. But there is one place I don’t understand. There are some kind of puffy white dolls kissing all over the Coca-Cola bottle before it gets frosted up by icemen. What are they for? Are they for cooling purpose? But icemen pretty much done the cooling process. So till now, it’s a mystery for me and I keep wondering what those kissing puffy dolls do in the Ad. If anyone knows the reason behind those puffy kisses, please let me know so that I can sleep well at night. LOL

Note: Surprisingly, my genius brother, who normally get the ideas from TV Ads quite easily asked me the same question about kissing things other night. So now we both searching for the truth behind kisses. Hehe.

Thought #7: There is another Ad on “D-Power” dish cleaning soup. I can’t stand that Ad cos’ it’s so awful the way they act in there. But the music stays in my head and can’t get rid of it. It goes “D-Power, Oielai lai lai…D-Power”. It makes me wonder what is that “Oie lai” actually express in there; does it make like “Wow” or “OMG” or “Zzz” kind of expressions?

Ok this “Oie lai” is the same thing/expression as “A Ma Lai” in Burmese. You can use “A Ma Lai” with different kind of expression depending on the sitution rite? Well that goes for this “Oie Lai” too. So in this Ad, I always wonder what expression does it emphasise upon. Hmmmm

Ok enough with stupid thoughts; they all started from Chicken and Egg story which go all over TV Ads.
Now May, back to work!!!

I read this news, Going to school ‘not compulsory’, on BBC other day and am thinking about it since.

Parents in England are being reminded that they have the right to educate their children at home if they wish.

My school years were filled with memories and remembrances that would sink in for the rest of my life. I enjoyed everything about my school life. You can appreciate more once you finish school and getting away from school environment. People tend to say they hate schooling or studying and just want to get over with it but in reality every single one of us misses our school lives later in our life. My high school and Uni years are nothing extraordinary yet they are one of my treasured memories. I’ve never think of home schooling as any normal person’s choice and I only understand those who home-school are to be:

people with redundant amount of cash (filthy rich who can afford private tutors/governors)

popular/famous people, where their fame gets in the way of public study (such as high-classed families, celebrities)

handicaps and disabled people who need special treatment and

those with unfortunate circumstance that they cannot do regular schooling (eg. traveling families)

Apart from those people, the average normal family should send their children to school and make the schooling (study at school) compulsory. After reading the article, I got some thoughts of my owe. What would I do in this case? What if I am a parent and am given a choice to either home feed the kid or send them to school? My answers are quite obvious and simple. If it’s in any normal situations, I’ll send my kids to school and never let them stay at home. If they don’t want to go, I’ll make them go. For the age of 1 – 18 they are in my control and for that they must act as I say. So go to school or ELSE!!!
These are some of the reasons they gave for home schooling.

SOME REASONS FOR CHOOSING HOME EDUCATING

Distance or access to school

Religious, cultural or philosophical beliefs

Dissatisfaction with the system

Bullying

Short-term particular reason

Child’s unwillingness or inability to go to school

Special educational needs

Parents’ desire for closer relationship with children

The article mentioned the pros only. What about the cons? My response to the above given pros would be :

The first point is understandable and can be added to those exceptional cases.

The second point is unreasonable. I would think whichever religion or culture that would restrict a child from going to school and oppose social interaction to be a lame culture.

The third point itself is lame so no farther expression to add on it.

Dealing with Bullies, gang fights and normal peer pressures are necessary to thicken your skin. You will encounter numerous bullies and abuses in life. School is the best place to get your first experience of the first step to enter the real life.

Goes into those exceptional cases as well so it’s fine.

If you give yourself in to your child’s will, you child will be spoil little brat. It is a parent’s responsibility to guide them through inspite of their unwillingness. If you fail to do so, you are also a spoil little brat’s Mom and Pa – the bigger brats. Ok for the second part of “inability to go to sch” will go to special cases of disable and handicaps who need special cares so it’s alright for them to home school.

If your child is a genius or the other-way-round then he obviously needs to get special classes of his own. So I agree that home school in this case is the best for him.

I have nothing to say except that they are the biggest idiots of all.

Here are more of my thoughts on some quotes in the article.

It is the legal right of parents to educate their children at home if they so wish and the Department for Education and Skills supports the right of parents to make this choice for their children.

It’s unspoken yet always there as one of the parents’ rights. There is no need to emphasize that it is a legal right. But since it has been legalized, it is better for those who needs an acknowledgement.

It really is so heart-warming to families to have their choices recognized in this way.

Sometimes having too many choices make you go stray. You get confused what to choose. Sometimes I wonder why can’t we all be given one best choice and just follow that? I always have a great difficulty making decisions. What if the one you choose is the wrong choice for you? You’ll be regretted for the rest of your life. Too many choices make me go nuts!

But the authorities have no right to enter people’s homes or make routine checks on children’s progress.

Again, too much freedom can be very dangerous if it is being misused. In this case, how can one monitor the progress of a child?

“Children learn in different ways and at different times and speeds.”

That is true, but IMHO they learn more in the presence of competitions and social interactions. They speed up their abilities in the presence of friendship and team work, provided that they are with a good peer group. Competition is a catalyst for personal improvement. Depending on how a person handles it, competition can either boost your goals or put you in misery and self depression. But for me, every competition is a good competition whether you win or lose. If you have the ability and strength to stand up for the competition then you are already a winner.

Home-schooled kid is like a little bug in a cocoon where he thinks the cocoon is the only world he know of and he exists around his little world.
# It restricts the social and mental development of your child. For eg. They might not know how to communicate with their peer group, how to handle different mind-sets.
# They lack social experiences such as school trips, parties, sports events etc.
# They most probably become a mommy/daddy boy, who don’t know how to grow up and always sticking to the parents.
# Time management problems. No good concentration at home, you can never do something properly at home in one sitting cos’ there is always too much distractions around.

Also there are some points that the article didn’t explained on which I wonder over.

# What about the home-school course work compare to proper school curriculum?
# What would they do for the tests and exams?
# Who would decide whether those home-school kids are qualify for the level?
# Which grades or reports they show to enter universities? (what are the prove of their qualifications?)
# Who would design/decide on those grade reports ie. which grade to give them? (since the educators are the parents themselves and no interference from outside is allowed)
# Will the employers accept those home-feed kids as qualify people for the job?
and so on……….So, if you are given that kind of option to either send your kids to sch or home-sch, what would you do/choose? Now it’s your turn. Let’s think it through and share with me.

Scenario: My mom checking out what I’m doing and curious about who my friends are.

Me: tap tap tap….
Mom: what are to doing?
Me: Chatting with Missy.
Mom: Are they your friends? (Looking at my gtalk friend list icons)
Me: yah
Mom: who is the one called D-A-D?
Me: huh? Who?
Mom: D-A-D
Me: LOL it’s Dad!! Faygyi lay.
Mom: Oh, you chat with your father across the room too.
Me: You don’t know who the person is in the photo?
Mom: well I can’t see the photo properly.
Me: Yah yah that’s Dad.

For some reason, I chat with my dad and brother on gtalk at home instead of go talk to them in person. Last time, I was asking something to my brother over gtalk then he started yelling from his room, why am I chatting him on gtalk instead of just ask him outside. My mom is the only one who doesn’t use computer at home so I do the proper talking with her the most. At work too, all of us talk each other over gtalk even that person is sitting a few feet away from you. I guess I’ve been communicating with my laptop too much that I hardly ever need to do the real talking. These days I’m excessively using gtalk or emails for my communication purposes. Oh geez, what if I forget how to talk. haha that’ll be interesting.

Talk about OHS in work environment, our office stinks! I mean really really stinks, the real rotten dead rat kind of stinks. It’s been stink for two whole weeks now. First we thought someone in the office didn’t take a bath but obviously it shouldn’t stink that much. We searched for a dead rat but till now in vain. Then we concluded it must be the air-condition problem. So we called the technician to check. He changed the filter and sprayed aerosol. The smell disappeared for a while and back again as usual. The problem is some people get the rotten smell and some don’t. It might depend on the air circulation in the room. Anyway, I’m one of the most unfortunate ones in the office for I have to work with that rotten smell for two weeks already plus that stupid AC is too cold for my liking. Occasionally (quite a lot this week) people are yelling and arguing and throwing and banging things around me. Headache and suffocation, really spoiling my mood!!!

Updates:
On the third week of despair, we’ve finally found out the source of the problem. It’s a dead rat after all. The smell has been spread out the entire place and everyone starting to dig up the drawers and junk mess. Found out that the rat was on the table, behind the servers all tangled with wires. It must have gotten an electric shock.

Ironic enough, we found it behind Zatlite’s desk; he has been desperately searching for it without success last week. Today with the help of the rest of the gang, get hold of the rat.
Pheeeww!!!

I’m utterly annoyed by amount of spam mayvelous is getting everyday. If not for Akismet plugin, my blog will be bombarded with all those shitty spam comments. I can’t believe people have that much time in hand to send junks like that. Everyday Akismet catches about 200 – 400 spams for me. Whatever go into Akismet spam list, I just click once and delete them all. I don’t waste my time going through the list so it’s easy enough to clean them up. But lately, not only spams but they’ve been hitting me with track-backs.

The worst thing about track-backs is that they show up on my front page – recent comments list. If I don’t realize or forget to check the mail, all those filthy links will be showing up and spoiling my site. I’m not sure whether those people actually benefit from those kind of spamming other sites with shit load of junks. I wonder whether they do this to promote their business or doing just for fun and annoy others.

They chew up my bandwidth, mess up my stats, disgusted my site and most important of all, they really piss me off. I hope, whoever behind this, they rot in spam hell. One spam to my site, hope they get back 100 times more to their site and quickly bankrupt their rotten business!!!
